Born and raised in the Scranton, PA area, Mark discovered an artistic talent at an early age. In High School he took a more architectural approach to art rather than through regular forms of media, graduating high school in 1999, with four years of drafting experience. While in drafting Mark found enjoyment in designing mechanical objects, such as bicycle frames and parts, but still taking interest in drawing and photography.
He started college at the University of Pittsburgh in the summer of 1999 as an Engineer, with aspirations to design bicycles in his future. As an elective Mark took Introduction to Design where he first realized he wanted to pursue Studio Arts as a minor. He dropped Engineering after a year, knowing it wasn't what he wanted and found a love for Media and Communication, while still minoring in Studio Arts. He completed college on April 27, 2003 as a Communications and Rhetoric major with a minor in Studio Arts, as well as a related area in History of Art and Architecture.
While still in college, Mark began getting job experience doing promotional work in the music industry for companies like Victory Records, Club Laga, and Universal Buzz. Through doing so he learned a lot about marketing and the business side of music, all the while paying great attention to how artwork influenced promotion and purchasing of records and concerts. He finally decided that advertising and graphic design was what he wanted to do, more specifically advertising and graphic design in the music industry. He began to network in order to get freelance design work for bands, starting out creating some designs for a Sadis Euphoria (Willowtip Records) shirt, which lead to doing one for the band Circle of Dead Children (Martyr Music Group) as well. Mark's photography was also used on some of the bands' official websites. Through doing those jobs, he was asked to help build a new website for Sadis Euphoria, which is still in the works.
In the near future Mark hopes to get a challenging and rewarding advertising/graphic design position requiring strengths in creativity and artistic talent, leadership, and relationship building and team-oriented organization skills, where he can apply his hard working ethic.
